We are happy to have the expedition vessel completed! This tiny boat will bring us massive views of the underwater world so that we can better plan and find locations to anchor our SeaPods, especially in deep water.
With the ability to “see” about 2000 meters below the surface of the ocean, we should have no problem scouting out new locations to drop anchor. This will also help us build maps of the ocean floor which can be used for many different things.
This boat won’t operate under its own power, it will simply be towed behind a boat. This allows us to map the seafloor any time that we are moving in a boat. This can be especially useful behind a sailboat on a multi-day location scouting trip.
Based on the info that we receive from the SONAR, we can make more educated decisions on the best places to anchor our SeaPods. We need certain specifications on the seafloor for a location to be considered a possibility. This is especially difficult to see when in deep water unless you have a slick little expedition vessel like this.
All of the equipment will be mounted inside and it will be sealed up so that all we have to do is tow it behind a boat and it will be operating. It will be fairly autonomous, except for navigation since it can’t drive itself. This will be a great addition to the team and we can’t wait to start exploring the ocean floors and finding new locations for future SeaPods!
