We have a pretty big operation going on here at the factory as we move our EcoPod prototype from the yard at the factory to the floating TriPod base that is in the marina. We wanted to just do a test to see how everything would fit together before we add all of the weight of the interior and roof of the EcoPod so that we’ll need to know if we need to make any further adjustments in the coming weeks.

We had the EcoPod on a trailer and used our telehandler to tow it from the yard to the Travel Lift crane which we will use to lift it. Slowly and steadily we towed the EcoPod into position so that we could cradle it in the straps of the crane. We slowly lifted the Pod using the crane while keeping everything level and stable.

While we were preparing everything on land, we used our workhorse boat to move the floating TriPod base into position. We weren’t sure if the crane would be able to get the Pod far enough out over the water to make the connection on the base since the crane can only go so far out and the footings for the crane path restrict how far in we can move the base.

Luckily, everything worked out and we were able to make the connection and get the EcoPod onto the center spar of this TriPod base. This was only a test to see how things would fit together so for now, the EcoPod will go back into the factory as it moves into the final stages of prototype development, but we gained valuable information and we are much more comfortable about things moving forward.

We still have some work to do on this EcoPod and our SeaPod prototype but we are hoping to have them both on the water very soon.
